Remember, Remember

The Victor of the 115th Hunger Games
Darek Jacquard

District Eight
Kill Count: 1

Second Place: Jayden Perona
District Twelve
Kill Count: 1

Jayden's parents, Jordan and Kayla, watched on with tearful eyes as Jayden stood up for his friend in more ways than one. They wanted their child home as much as any family would, but to them, Jayden was going out the same way he entered - a loving, kind, selfless boy. Unlike many, the arena didn't break him. His body was sent back off to District Twelve, where a simple cremation commenced. His youngest sister, Lily, sang so clear and angelic as his body was sent into the flames. Only days later would they receive Darek's letter and read it with sad smiles, telling them how their son had changed him, helped him, and that they should be proud. They didn't need to be told; they couldn't have been any more prouder.

Third Place: Finch Caraway
District Ten
Kill Count: 1

When the interview happened and Larsen and Calvin lied, Finch's mother grew furious. Those boys had tore down her son, just like her ex-husband had done to her. When Finch's father, Adrian, approached her to help out with Finch's funeral, she coldly rejected him, reminding him that he was one of Finch's many problems to begin with. The funeral came, and as Lillian said goodbye to her eldest child whilst cradling the others - Saffron and Tara - Larsen and Calvin arrived to cause trouble. Celeste bravely stood up for her fallen friend, sending them away. Finch would never be bothered with again. He would be allowed peace, something he had only wished for to begin with.

Fourth Place: Maxim Bauer
District Nine
Kill Count: 0

No-one could believe that little Maxim Bauer had gotten so far. With the odds stacked against him, his family had begrudgingly accepted his death in the bloodbath. But the final twelve came about, and then ten, and finally the final five, and their hope soared. His little half-sister, Kimberly, asked questions about how well he was doing, and how Maxim could win. They didn't know, but they had hope. So when he was crucified and then mauled, his father's heart broke, whilst his step-mother tried to pick up the pieces. His small, chipped coffin was sent back, bones almost rattling on the inside. It made him sick to his stomach as he dug a grave on their old harvest plantation late one night, just so Maxim could be at home with his deceased mother. Maxim had defied odds and brought hope to a young generation who believed they were destined to be written off as bloodbaths.

Fifth Place: Tambryn Delevingne
District Nine
Kill Count: 1

Despite everything she believed, that she knew was true, District Nine still watched in horror as she crucified Maxim and was eaten by the Mutts. Her aunt, Estelle, clutched her dreamcatcher and wished for fate to do something else, to save her niece. Her body was returned to grieving parents and a broken home. Her parents couldn't believe that something so trivial had controlled their daughter to do what she did. Townspeople reacted, and eventually, Tambryn's grave was soon desecrated and her aunt Estelle forced out of her business. Fate had controlled her, and fate had broke her.

Sixth Place: Genevieve Arlen
District Four
Kill Count: 3

Both Nero and Marita Arlen had faith in their daughter. Despite everything she had been though, they knew that they'd daughter would give it her all; she was doing it to avenge her sister, after all. They were over the moon when Genevieve reached so far, with her allies falling. She could do it, of course she could... but then things went wrong. Genevieve rarely opened up to people, and seeing her friendship with Laise made them smile, even if it meant her eventual death. She grew in a place meant to crush her. Rather than the sea burial like tradition, Genevieve was buried on the beach, just so she could be close to her sister at all times.

Seventh Place: Laise Revilyn
District Two
Kill Count: 2

Varyn and Kelar Revilyn knew that their daughter would enter. When the prestige invitation arrived a year before, they cracked down on her, making sure that she worked harder towards their goals. They never realised that it wasn't her goal. Laise was a loner, someone who needed a hobby, someone perfect for training hours alone and developing their skills. They saw that, but never thought about their daughter's feelings. Laise's body was burned at the Training Centre, attended by practically no-one. She would forever be forgotten, despite doing everything she could to make her parents proud.

Eighth Place: Fedora Clos
District One
Kill Count: 3

Fedora's body was returned to Kingston Academy, where Silver, his personal trainer, collected him. She wept over his lifeless body because, despite the age gap, she truly loved him. Fedora's own family had wanted him to be buried in the woods, where he spent most of his time, but that wasn't allowed. The next nearest place was Kingston Academy's grounds. There, he lay, to a small funeral attended by close friends and people who often brought his meat. His sister, Platinum, for the first time in years, actually had happy thoughts about her brother. Fedora had changed many lives - both rich and poor - and never lost his roots. A predator at heart, but prey for the Capitol.

Ninth Place: Nerys West
District Five
Kill Count: 1

There was no turning back, Nerys knew that when she volunteered, and her father knew that when she went on the run after the first attack. He loved his daughter and at the beginning, couldn't believe that she - a girl - could ever rape someone. It tore Aidan West apart. He hadn't seen her in months, and when he does for the first time, she's running to volunteer. His daughter had lost the plot. Nerys' brother, Alexander, just smirked; of course, someone as crazy as his sister would do that. Nerys' body was returned to her father who, after much consideration, asked them to take her back. He had no room for her anymore. Her body was cremated and stored back in the Capitol.

Tenth Place: Brigan Knoll
District Three
Kill Count: 1

Brigan was often mocked by his peers for being an inventor, and a failing one at that. His parents, Textus and Liva, had always been supporting, but it was taking its toll too. So when Brigan's death happened, their hearts faltered. No, their son wasn't suppose to die. He was suppose to grow out of his obsession and get a job, a career, a way to make something of himself that wasn't a joke. They collected his small coffin and Liva openly spoke out, telling parents to always support their children before it was too late. Without even realising, Brigan's best friends, Halia and Fev, went about creating a small, ticking device in his honour.

Eleventh Place: Magnus Croft
District Two
Kill Count: 1

Magnus' parents, Apollo and Phoenix, had encouraged him to volunteer. They made him watch all of the recaps, train as extensively as possible, just so he could become something... but not dead. Magnus' death was both a shock and another disappointment to the Croft family. His body was sent home, but on Apollo's wishes, Magnus got the tradition, District Two trainee send-off, burned on a large bonfire for all to see and wallow in memories; usually the only time they got free. Not that many people attended, and if they did, they'd never tell you that they admired Magnus for trying to be different, no matter how much it backfired.

Twelfth Place: Bliss Promenade
District Three
Kill Count: 2

Bliss was the outcast in her family, full of geniuses and scientists. They cared for technology, and she cared for drama. That was the main excuse Meiosis Promenade made for her daughter's erratic behaviour in the Games, when friends asked why the sweet angelic girl was suddenly showing a darker side. She was an outcast, forced to stand out. Bliss' coffin was handed back to tearful parents and shocked friends. Her funeral was the largest anyone had ever seen, Bliss having made so many friends. Many walked away after a while, some stayed. Was their friendship true, or was Bliss acting? No-one would ever know. Bliss, herself, didn't even know; her acting was that good, she had fooled herself into believing she could win.

Thirteenth Place: Lux Solaris
District Four
Kill Count: 0

Lux was everything his younger brother, Caligo, was not. Whilst Caligo trained, Lux would read up medical journals that his mother brought home from work. That's where their differences started. After Lux's reaping, Caligo found life harder, the kids taunting him for having a non-trained brother. Caligo hated it, he kinda hated Lux too. As he watched the fiery tongues sink Lux's coffin into the sea, he knew that Lux was right - the Hunger Games just weren't that important. Without even knowing, Lux had started a small revolt, children turning down training for other means, Caligo being the first. He loved his brother - he wished he said it more often.

Fourteenth Place: Harlow Bellamy
District Eleven
Kill Count: 0

Harlow's death brought ease to Darren. Kidnapping her was the easy part, the hard part was keeping her concealed and obedient. It was easy, after a while, but when her death was brought to life, Darren didn't cry - he smiled. His secret would go to the grave with her, and no-one would be able to connect the dots. Except someone did... Harlow's face was recognised in the Capitol, the parents claiming their missing daughter. Pieces were placed together, and Darren was caught and executed, a smile on his face; he would only be reunited with her, didn't they understand that?

Fifteenth Place: Piper Oxalis
District Ten
Kill Count: 0

Piper's coffin was returned to Lucky, his eyes wide and full of tears. He couldn't believe that she had died... later that night, Peacekeeper Vega broke into the tavern, whisking away Piper's coffin. He couldn't be found; he had an image to uphold. Carefully, on the outskirts of the forest, he burned her body, taking away any evidence. What Vega didn't realise though, is that the Capitol knew... Peacekeepers were frowned upon having relations with district citizens, and one night, Vega vanished from his bed. Piper got her revenge in the afterlife.

Sixteenth Place: Dione Martell
District One
Kill Count: 1

Dione's parents were more than shocked, to say the least. With everything that had put their daughter down, they knew that entering the Hunger Games was her way of escaping. They never thought she'd die. Dione's body was returned home, where the family carefully opened the coffin up, laying her designer whip down beside her. From there, she was buried in the Martell Mausoleum. Only two years later would her sister, Jules, join her, having entered the arena to avenge her sister. Dione didn't care for her sister; but she welcomed the gesture as best as she could.

Seventeenth Place: Wisteria Arnette
District Twelve
Kill Count: 1

Iris, Wisteria's little sister, watched in horror as Wisteria was cruelly murdered. She loved her sister, and with bitter tears, she couldn't pry them away from the TV set. The man who had forced Wisteria into volunteering after losing a bet, soon went back on his offer, attending Wisteria's funeral in order to taunt the family further. It was this that turned Iris into a hardened, closed-off person. She adopted her sister's gambling habits and made sure to beat the man, stripping him of everything he ever had. She had always idolised her sister, and changing her ways, she soon became her.

Eighteenth Place: Nadia Halifax
District Six
Kill Count: 0

Only Nadia's grandparents mourned her. Her mother, Mattie, was high and away with the fairies, whilst her father, Dante, didn't care. He had never wanted a child; frankly, a loss who something that benefitted him and his pockets. Nadia's grandparents collected the body, buying the nicest coffin their poverty could buy, before burying her in their backyard. When Mattie came around, she tried to make amends and visit her daughter - but they rejected her. Her addiction had caused Nadia's own spiral into the substance. They lost a child and a granddaughter, they had had enough.

Nineteenth Place: Savannah DeBeaux
District Seven
Kill Count: 0

Everyone knew Savannah wouldn't survive; she was too fragile to have handled it all. Her parents had come to terms with it before she had even reached the Capitol. They were distraught, as would be expected from two parents who done everything they could so that their children wouldn't suffer. Her body was buried in the backyard, under the gentle willow tree. The funeral was small, quaint, attended by few. Her youngest sister, Sahara, would forever remember her sister for her death, not for her life.

Twentieth Place: Helene Fortress
District Eight
Kill Count: 0

The Fortress family suffered another blow with Helene's untimely demise. With Cassidy's suicide and Amy's permanent blindness, and now this, her mother Elizabeth was overwhelmed. Clutching onto Amy's hand - the young girl unaware of what was about to happen - as she leapt off the top of a textile factory. The Fortress family, wiped out in a matter of a decade. Together, they held each other close. Helene's body was then buried, taken by Darek, Chiffon and Velvet.

Twenty First Place: Adra Church
District Eleven
Kill Count: 0

Adra became the laughing stock of his district, despite everything that his parents, Lannen and Camila, tried to do. He was kind and polite, sweet and thoughtful, but his kindness caused his death. He didn't fight when he was suppose to, and the rowdy boys often openly mocked his death. His other siblings - Coren, Lacia, Diya and Nate - suffered as well. They didn't understand it - people should mourn him, not mock him. His oldest sister, Sawyer, soon grew pregnant and gave birth to a boy, named Adra in the honour of her brother, who, in her eyes, was the bravest he could be.

Twenty Second Place: Hamlet Althen
District Five
Kill Count: 0

Hamlet's death was rarely recognised by anyone, seeing as he lived alone. With no family nor friends, Hamlet was the black sheep who would never be missed. He was odd, creepy, closed-off, but no-one knew his story. He knew he'd be reaped and he knew he'd die. So, when the Capitol were told that he had nowhere to go, they cruelly left his body to burned and stored with the other abandoned souls. Hamlet would forever be alone, and inside, it broke him just a little bit more.

Twenty Third Place: Alder Hawthorne
District Seven
Kill Count: 0

Alder's body was returned back to District Seven, where his lonely father awaited him. Rowan Hawthorne collected his child, distraught and hollow. He quickly cremated the body, collecting the ashes and spreading them. As much as he wanted to mourn, he couldn't. He had to keep moving. Alder was soon forgotten, blowing in the wind, and his father continued as if Alder never existed: it was easier that way.

Twenty Fourth Place: Grey Slate
District Six
Kill Count: 0

Grey's last moments were Rex and Arica, looking on at him with sad eyes. They knew he had no chance and ran, afraid to see him die. He pleaded for them and they heard, but simply willed their bodies to ignore him. His body was returned to a broken family, who mourned and cried over his cold, stiff body. He was buried in District Six's cemetery, just another body among others. He was buried near Nadia, their friendship extending the living realm and into the darkness, where they would comfort each other for the rest of eternity: Grey soon let Rex and Arica free.
